JOMBANG – Pandemic COVID-19, did not dampen the intention of thousands of residents of Kendalsari Village, Sumiboto District, Jombang Regency, East Java, to hold Eid Al-Fitr prayers together.
But it is different from Eid prayer in previous years. This year, Eid al-Fitr prayers are held by implementing strict health protocols. They do not hold prayers in the mosque, but on the highway.
In order to be able to maintain the distance between pilgrims, the prayers reach along 1 kilometer (km). This is done, so that the prayers are held not to the huddle, so the distance between pilgrims is set along 1 meter.
Meanwhile, so that pilgrims can still listen to the voice of the priest, every 100 meter radius is installed a loudspeaker that is connected directly to the main stage.
After performing the prayer, thousands of these pilgrims solemnly listened to the Eid al-Fitr sermon. They remained solemnly carrying out worship on the day of victory, even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chairman of the Al Falah Takmir Mosque, KH Ali Mas'ad claimed to deliberately hold the Eid Al-Fitr Prayer in the middle of the road, because he wanted to obey the health protocol. "If it is held inside a mosque, with a distance of 1 meter between pilgrims, fear will not be enough, because the number of worshipers can reach above 2,000 people," he said.
