Until now an outbreak of the virus, commonly called Covid-19, has killed more than 500,000 people. In fact, the number of confirmed corona virus cases worldwide has jumped to 10 million. Clearly, stopping all sports activities is one of the strong reasons to minimize the spread because it involves a lot of people on each event.
After the soccer league in several countries began to dare to hold a match in the middle of a pandemic, a number of non-football sports began to declare ready for a comeback. The closest sport to the world stage will be held again is F1. The Austrian Grand Prix (GP) is planned to be the inaugural series of the 2020 season at the Red Bull Ring Circuit, 5 July. In fact, the circuit will also hold a second series the following week. This was done to shorten the time so that the most prestigious car race world championship was completed on target.
The reason, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) has just set eight series on the F1 2020 calendar after the revision related to the delay due to the corona virus. There were seven races that were canceled such as Australia, the Netherlands, Monaco, Azerbaijan, France, Singapore and Japan. While several other countries are still waiting for certainty from the local government.
Ferrari's sporting director Laurent Mekies said that this year's F1 Championship had a tougher challenge than before. Apart from going on without spectators, the number of crews per team is limited. In fact, every race must implement strict health protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Not only in the circuit, activities outside the track must also follow the prescribed health procedures. Wearing a face mask is mandatory, while the mechanics will work side by side with more distance from one another than the other crew.
"One of the biggest, most basic challenges, especially for those in the garage, is to wear masks all the time. We have to get used to it immediately, because it will become a part of our normal lives," Mekies said. (Also read: Puig's Strange About Marc and Alex Marquez's Contract at Honda)

The Spanish GP will be the first series at the Jerez Circuit, 19 July. In fact, the track was held back in a row with the name of the Andalusian Grand Prix the following week.
Currently, Dorna Sports, a promoter of MotoGP, is still looking for ways that races can also take place outside of Europe. However, the problem of time and logistics costs due to the corona virus pandemic has made several host countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, the United States, and Argentina unable to provide answers. Moreover, the race will take place without spectators, which is one of the sources of income to hold a MotoGP.
CEO Dorna Carmelo Ezpeleta hopes that the corona virus pandemic situation will not worsen. The reason is, his side has worked hard so that plans to hold a race again can occur. Moreover, MotoGP is considered the best sport because it is always active and protects its participants, especially from the financial side.
"Plan A is to hold a race in Europe without spectators, at least for now. That will be the first part. For the second part, we plan to race outside Europe. So far, we have to be prepared to help support the team. If football can start at "In the middle of June, we will move the following month. On July 19, I hope we can begin," Ezpeleta said.
