The Japanese multinational Ricoh intends to double “in the short term” the 269 million euros forecast for 2019 in Portugal, with the recent bet in the segment of services and computer solutions, announced this Wednesday the commercial director.
"The goal is to double the business in Portugal in the short term," said Jesús Centeno Moyer at a meeting with journalists in Porto, regarding the 25 years of the entry into Portugal of the multinational electronic equipment.
As explained, the expected evolution in Portugal will be mainly driven by the IT services and solutions segment, where Ricoh offers integrated solutions for digital transformation of the workplace and data security, and where it has already been bet in recent years on Spain.
In 2017, said Jesús Centeno, Ricoh Portugal and Spain had shared management, which marked a turning point in the strategy in the Portuguese market: If the focus was previously on the office printing segment ', namely printers and photocopiers), has shifted its focus to offering integrated IT services and solutions for businesses and offices.
“In Portugal we are expanding Ricoh's business transformation plan by launching IT solutions and services that are fundamental to being a player reference in the digital transformation of our business partners and to ensure the future of our employees and shareholders. Our goal in Portugal and Spain is for IT solutions and services to represent 40% of Ricoh's activity at the end of fiscal year 2020, ”says the company.
As part of this strategy, Ricoh has acquired two critical IT infrastructure services companies this year – IPM in Spain and TotalStor in Portugal, for an undisclosed amount – and says it remains alert to new acquisition opportunities in this area. . "Ricoh is strategically investing in acquisitions around the world with a goal of $ 5,600 million in revenue for IT services by the end of 2022," the company said.
According to Jesús Centeno, excluding TotalStor, Ricoh Portugal's turnover would have been around 17 million euros this year, in line with 2018, but the integration of this company made it possible to increase its turnover to 26 million euros and total workers in the country. for over a hundred.
In the Iberian Peninsula, Ricoh's turnover reached 273 million euros in 2018, accounting for 65% of the office printing area, 25% of the office services segment and IT 10% of the commercial and industrial printing business. According to Jesús Centeno, by 2019 the weight of the office services segment has already increased to 36.8%, approaching the 40% target for 2020. In total, Ricoh Portugal and Spain employs 2,000 professionals, 100 distributors and more than 50,000 customers.
