Portuguese coach André Villas-Boas will remain at the helm of Olympique Marseille next season, the French club source told France Presse on Monday, after rumors that he would be leaving.
"After several conversations exchanged in the last days with Frank McCourt [owner of the club] and Jacques-Henri Eyraud [president], André Villas-Boas confirmed that he wants to continue to collaborate with Marseille for the next season," said the same source.
The rumors of the departure of the Portuguese coach increased after the announcement, on May 14, of the end of the contract of the sports director, the Spanish Andoni Zubizarreta, responsible for the hiring of André Vilas Boas.
Moreover, André Villas-Boas himself made it clear in public statements, following the resignation of Zubizarreta, who could follow the same path as the Spaniard.
Marseille officials, pressured by the supporters' opposition, who did not welcome the Portuguese coach's departure, who left the club in second place in the championship, when he was interrupted and secured the qualification for the Champions League, made a proposal André Vilas-Boas, on May 19, for a two-year contract, with one more option.
