In Indonesia, until Thursday (3/19/2020) as many as 309 positive cases of Corona with 25 people died. Therefore, in addition to being asked to maintain health, people are asked to remain calm and not panic.
The community can also protect themselves from the efforts of certain groups that will turn this problem into a "mount" to cause noise and damage peace in Indonesia.
Sociologist who is also Professor of Political Sociology from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) University of Indonesia (UI), Prof. Iwan Gardono Sujatmiko said that in dealing with the spread of this virus the vigilance of the whole community is needed, not panic.
According to him, the true Corona virus is not a punishment but a disaster and a test to strengthen solidarity, help one another and work together.
"Affirmation of solidarity must be done periodically through mass media and social media in the form of explanations of various existing social and religious institutions. This will increase the solidarity of togetherness as part of the Indonesian nation and Indonesian citizens. I think so far it has not been done optimally, "said Iwan Gardono in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 18, 2020.
Iwan explained, the spread of COVID-19 needed "explanatory actions" such as fatwas and so on from the official institutions of all religions, whether Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism. Also religious mass organizations such as Nahdatul Ulama (NU), Muhammadiyah and so on, together with health institutions such as the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) or from Higher Education.
"This explanation action needs to be done at the central, provincial, district, city level. And in this way and carried out comprehensively and repeatedly, the 'stage' can be mastered by positive explanations, "he said.
Iwan said, so far the vigilance so that the virus did not spread more and did not make the community panicked by the government. But there are still people or groups who make the atmosphere worse by making negative news or issues, especially on social media. For this reason, the roles of territorial organizations ranging from RT, RW, Babinsa TNI, Babinkamtibmas to the Indonesian National Police must be activated especially in areas that have been exposed.
"They can function to track people who have interacted or been exposed to COVID-19 subjects. It is also important that there are a large number of Defending State cadres playing a role in COVID-19 cases so that they can build Bet Betel Fence ’in the real, social or virtual / internet domains. And this has not been done optimally, "he said.
Iwan also reminded the importance of the literacy given to the public so that it was not easy to be consumed by the issue of hoax news related to the spread of the virus. It is important to make people calm.
According to him, one effective way is by SMS Blast to all mobile phones as is done by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) whose contents are to avoid crowds and between people within one meter.
"This pattern needs to be continued and enhanced with the right messages. In addition it is necessary to debate events in the mass media (TV, Newspapers) and social media between negative parties (hoaks) with positive who are public figures who are trusted by the public and scientists. It also hasn't been done comprehensively and periodically, "he said.
This member of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) expert group in the field of Sociology said there was a need for centralized communication or constructive interpretation and spread throughout Indonesia to build resilience in dealing with the problem of this virus.
The delay of the Crisis Center (Crisis Center) for more than one to two months and the absence of the right spokesman to focus and frame (framing) positively and instructively to all institutions and citizens has resulted in space for hoaks.
"If the actual mass media does not control the problem, it will certainly produce chaos in the meaning and construction of reality, if there is no capable and competent spokesman," he said.
